ACCIONA Windpower has completed a turbine supply agreement with Apex Clean Energy for the development of 165 MW Cameron Wind farm, purchased by IKEA.
According to the agreement, 55 ACCIONA Windpower AW125/3000 turbines will be supplied under a 20-year Full Service Warranty.
The Cameron Wind farm is located in South Texas and marks the first installation of AW125/3000 turbines in the U.S.
Each turbine will have a rotor diameter of 125 meters and a 3 megawatt generator mounted on an 87.5 meter steel tower, delivering maximum energy production for the site.
ACCIONA has plans to begin turbine deliveries by 2015, and the project is expected to start commercial operation in late 2015.
On completion, the wind farm will produce energy sufficient to power 59,000 U.S. homes annually.
The project will be a major part of IKEA’s commitment to produce by 2020 and the single largest renewable energy investment ever made by IKEA globally.

The Cameron Wind project expands the track record for the AW3000 platform to 465 MW in the U.S. and approximately 2,000 MW globally, including various orders for wind farms.
