Pivot Energy accelerated its clean energy transition in 2025 by expanding its community solar portfolio, strengthening ESG governance, improving greenhouse gas accounting, and advancing biodiversity initiatives.
Pivot Energy, under the leadership of Jackie Murphy, Chief Legal and ESG Officer, integrated environmental, social, and governance priorities into corporate decision-making while enhancing compliance and investor-grade sustainability reporting through Salesforce Net Zero Cloud.
The company operated 179 MW of solar capacity during 2025 and expanded its cumulative renewable energy portfolio to 4.3 GW, including nearly 1,000 completed solar projects and approximately 900 projects under active development. During the year, Pivot permitted more than 235 MW of new commercial and community-scale solar projects, supporting long-term decarbonization and broader access to renewable electricity, Pivot Energy Sustainability Report 2025 indicated.
Pivot’s operational solar portfolio generated 175,378,975 kWh of clean electricity, preventing 140,053,505 pounds of CO₂ emissions, avoiding the burning of 70,585,779 pounds of coal, supplying enough electricity for 13,240 homes, and delivering an environmental benefit equivalent to removing 14,808 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles from the road for one year.
The company maintained 100 percent carbon neutrality across Scope 1 and Scope 2 operations by offsetting purchased electricity with certified renewable energy certificates and compensating direct emissions through verified climate offset projects.
Pivot strengthened its net zero strategy by establishing a dedicated Net Zero Committee and replacing spend-based Scope 3 accounting with an activity-based methodology that tracks supplier manufacturing data, component weights, transportation distances, and facility energy sources. This enhanced reporting improved the accuracy of fuel- and energy-related emissions data by more than 70 percent and revealed that actual Scope 3 emissions were approximately 53.9 percent lower than previously estimated.
Pivot reported Scope 1 emissions of 0.00 tCO₂e, Scope 2 emissions of 33.60 tCO₂e, and Scope 3 emissions of 122.78 ktCO₂e, covering purchased goods and services, capital goods, transportation, leased assets, business travel, employee commuting, fuel- and energy-related activities, and end-of-life treatment of sold products.
Agrivoltaics remained a major sustainability focus. Since 2023, Pivot has achieved 300 percent growth in agrivoltaic deployment. Today, 95 percent of eligible ground-mounted solar projects, spanning more than 70 sites across seven states, incorporate pollinator habitats, crop cultivation, or livestock grazing. Around 98 percent of these sites rely on sheep and livestock grazing for vegetation management.
At the company’s 6 MWdc Pivot Solar 33 project in Colorado, approximately 600 ewes and lambs grazed across a 30-acre irrigated site during 2025. Biodiversity initiatives also included 20 active bee colonies supporting more than one million bees, while more than 30 solar graziers participated in a sponsored solar grazing certification program.
Pivot strengthened its renewable energy pipeline by securing $435 million in financing during 2025. This included a $215 million tax credit purchase commitment supporting a 40-project, 144 MWdc community solar portfolio across eight states, as well as $90 million in safe-harbor equipment purchases, including domestically manufactured solar panels. These investments supported more than 940 domestic construction jobs while improving supply chain resilience.
Strategic partnerships also expanded renewable energy deployment. Pivot continued its long-term collaboration with Microsoft to develop up to 500 MW of community-scale solar. The company completed three community solar projects with Tapestry through Impact Renewable Energy Certificates, while Rivian increased its community solar subscriptions sixfold during the year. Higher education partnerships included a 5 MW solar project for the University of Colorado Boulder and an off-site solar installation serving the University of Denver.
Pivot continued investing in communities by contributing nearly $1 million to clean energy access, workforce development, and local economic growth. The company distributed $864,217 to 25 organizations across Colorado, Illinois, Hawaii, and Maryland. Employee engagement remained strong, with 96 percent of employees expressing pride in working for the company.
Pivot also matched $93,699 in employee charitable contributions benefiting 151 nonprofit organizations and expanded professional development through more than 30 customized training modules. The company retained its Gold-level certification under the Solar Energy Industries Association’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice program.
During 2025, Pivot Energy’s sustainability leadership was recognized through multiple industry awards, including being named among America’s Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces, earning recognition as a Top Solar Contractor by Solar Power World, receiving the Green Power Leadership Award for Community Impact, and winning the Colorado Cleantech Industries Association High Impact Cleantech Company Award. These achievements reinforce Pivot Energy’s position as a leading community solar developer driving renewable energy growth, emissions reduction, biodiversity conservation, and long-term social impact.
