NADEC accelerated its sustainability strategy in 2025 with significant progress in climate action, renewable energy, water conservation, circular economy, sustainable agriculture, and ESG governance.
The company reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 11 percent through energy efficiency initiatives, renewable energy integration, and operational improvements while strengthening greenhouse gas accounting in line with the GHG Protocol. NADEC also established 2024 as the baseline year for measuring Scope 1, Scope 2, and priority Scope 3 emissions, creating a stronger foundation for future decarbonization efforts.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with plans to establish Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-aligned emissions reduction targets by 2030 and align climate disclosures with IFRS S2 and TCFD recommendations. NADEC is also improving Scope 3 emissions management by enhancing value chain data collection and increasing supplier engagement to reduce indirect emissions across its operations.
Renewable energy remained a key pillar of NADEC’s sustainability roadmap. Its Haradh PV Solar Plant, with a capacity of 30 MWp, generated 69,948,722 kWh of renewable electricity during the reporting period. The solar facility avoided approximately 58,092 tonnes of CO₂ emissions while supplying around 20 percent of the company’s total electricity consumption. Looking ahead, NADEC aims to increase renewable energy to 25 percent by 2030 and ultimately derive 75 percent of its energy from renewable sources.
Water stewardship also recorded notable improvements. NADEC’s biological wastewater treatment system processed more than 10,000 cubic meters of water per day, while smart irrigation and advanced sensing technologies reduced water consumption by more than 40 percent at its olive oil production project. The company’s Artificial Lake Project further strengthened circular water management by combining biological filtration, digital monitoring, and treated water reuse to maximize water efficiency.
Circular economy initiatives continued to expand during 2025. NADEC achieved a 53 percent waste recycling rate and processed approximately 150,000 tonnes of natural manure and organic waste annually, converting organic waste into valuable soil nutrients that support sustainable agriculture and reduce environmental impact.
The company also invested in technology-driven agriculture by deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and precision farming solutions to improve productivity and resource efficiency. During the year, NADEC planted 1.2 million seeds to produce drought-resistant seedlings irrigated with treated wastewater, strengthening climate-resilient farming and supporting long-term food security.
Environmental restoration remained another priority. Through the Riyadh Volunteers Initiative, NADEC planted and distributed more than 20,000 trees and seedlings, contributing to biodiversity enhancement and sustainable land management.
On the social sustainability front, occupational health and safety management systems covered 100 percent of employees, while the company reported zero occupational health and safety regulatory non-compliance cases. Women represented 32 percent of NADEC’s total workforce, and 94 percent of its female employees were Saudi nationals, reflecting continued progress in workforce inclusion.
NADEC also maintained high standards in responsible production, with 100 percent of production facilities certified to internationally recognized food safety standards and 100 percent traceability across meat and dairy raw material supply chains. The company reported zero data privacy complaints and zero cybersecurity breaches during the year. To strengthen ESG governance, NADEC prepared its sustainability reporting with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, while continuing to improve ESG data management, sustainability reporting, stakeholder engagement, and climate-related disclosure practices. Collectively, these initiatives demonstrate NADEC’s continued progress toward building a more resource-efficient, climate-resilient, and sustainable food production business while advancing its long-term Net Zero 2050 ambition.
