Vista Solar has announced the completion of a 153-kilowatt solar power system for WestGate Church.

The system will offset WestGate’s electricity consumption by 95 percent, and generate more than 250,000 KWh of clean energy each year, equivalent of powering 24 homes.

The church is expected to save nearly $16,000 annually with a $0 down, 15-year PPA agreement with the company.

Solar was financially a smart move with no-brainer. The saving provides another way to help tip the scales toward generosity as there is an increase in bottom line, said, Dan Perkins, executive pastor, WestGate.

The savings generated by the high efficiency solar system will help WestGate run annual “local compassion” program, pursuing the goal of donating 50 percent of the church’s budget, said Perkins.

As per the PPA agreement, Vista Solar will monitor the system for 15 years. The system is placed on two pitched rooftops. Vista Solar is using online monitoring software which enables fine visibility of both arrays from a single platform along with system performance alerts.

SunPower X-Series solar panels have provided efficiencies of 21.5 percent, SMA Tri-Power inverters, Locus monitoring software, and a ProSolar racking solution.
