SolarCity opens new operations center at Massachusetts

Greentech Lead America: SolarCity, a clean energy
services company, has opened its operations center in Marlborough.

The 15,000-square-foot facility is expected to bring the
area new jobs and help Massachusetts businesses, non-profit organizations and
homeowners save money through better energy options.

“We’re expanding our presence to make it easier for
Massachusetts homeowners and businesses to pay less money for better energy.
Now is a great time to go solar – solar costs are dropping and it can be
much cheaper than utility power,” said Ed Steins, SolarCity Northeastern
regional director.

SolarCity offers a range of energy efficiency (EE) services
in Massachusetts. Its services offer many businesses and homeowners in
Massachusetts the ability to pay 15-20 percent less for solar electricity than
they pay for utility power.

SolarCity has grown its Massachusetts workforce from 15
to 45 since September and is now plans to hire for additional open positions in
Marlborough.

“We have developed a nation-leading clean energy agenda
because it is the right thing to do for our environment, our energy
independence and our public health,” said Governor Deval Patrick during the
opening ceremony.

SolarCity and Rabobank to fund 30 commercial solar projects in
California

Recently, SolarCity and Rabobank, a global financial
services provider, announced $42.5 million in structured financing to fund over
30 commercial solar projects in California. This new fund is the latest
iteration of a Rabobank-SolarCity collaboration that has produced a
solar-powered electric vehicle charging corridor to connect Los Angeles and San
Francisco, and a series of solar installations at local bank branches in
California.
