Solar Frontier Americas, US subsidiary of Solar Frontier, announced today that two utility-scale solar projects installed with the company’s advanced CIS modules are completed and in operation.
The solar power generation plants, located in Terra Haute and Brazil, Indiana, U.S.A., are the largest utility-scale projects in their respective counties.
Developed, owned and operated by Cypress Creek Renewables, both projects are 7 MW in size and were first announced in October of last year. The projects are delivering power to Duke Energy under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
Charles Pimentel, COO of Solar Frontier Americas, said, “Cypress Creek Renewables is committed to the local communities they build in and they deliver high-quality, well-kept solar power generation plants.”
“The performance, energy yield and economics of Solar Frontier modules continue to establish them as an industry leader,” said Matt McGovern, CEO of Cypress Creek Renewables.
According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the state of Indiana has 150 MW of solar installed and is projected to install 345 MW of solar capacity over the next five years. In addition to the federal tax credit and depreciation deductions, Indiana offers several renewable energy tax exemptions. Solar Frontier’s CIS modules have the ability to deliver higher energy yields than conventional crystalline modules in real-world conditions such as hot climates and partial shade, the company said.
