SJVN has commissioned its 100 MW Raghanesda Solar Power Station, situated in Gujarat’s Banaskatha district. This marks the government-owned company’s stride towards sustainable energy solutions and underscores its commitment to green initiatives.

India’s Power Ministry  said that Raghanesda Solar Power Station is expected to generate approximately 252 million units of energy in its inaugural year. Over the course of 25 years, the cumulative energy production is estimated to reach 5,805 million units, significantly contributing to the region’s renewable energy capacity.

Under a long-term power purchase agreement, the electricity generated by the Raghanesda Solar Power Station will be supplied to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for a duration of 25 years, further solidifying SJVN Ltd’s role in bolstering the state’s energy infrastructure.

The commissioning of the Raghanesda Solar Power Station elevates SJVN’s installed capacity to 2,377 MW. This achievement comes shortly after the inauguration of the 50 MW Gujrai Solar Power Station in Uttar Pradesh on February 23, marking SJVN’s active participation in expanding the nation’s renewable energy portfolio.

SJVN Green Energy, the renewable energy arm of SJVN, secured the Raghanesda Solar Power Station at a tariff of Rs 2.64 per unit through a competitive bidding process facilitated by GUVNL. The project, with a construction and development cost of Rs 642 crore, received financing from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation under the Global Action for Reconciling Economic Growth and Environmental Preservation (GREEN) program, underscoring SJVN’s commitment to sustainable growth practices, IANS reported.

The commissioning of the Raghanesda Solar Power Station is poised to make substantial contributions to Gujarat’s renewable energy targets while enhancing energy security in the region.

Geeta Kapur, Chairperson, and Managing Director of SJVN, said that the commissioning of the 11th power project underscores SJVN’s dedication to advancing the nation’s green energy landscape and solidifies its position as a major player in the energy sector.
