ABB wins orders for $18 mn from Adani Group

ABB has won close to Rs 119-crore (about $18 million) worth orders from Adani Group. Under the deal, ABB will be required to provide plant electrification, automation and substation solutions for Adani’s upcoming solar power plants.

Adani Group has solar power installations spread out in three states: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The projects constitute output of more than 850 megawatts and it will be among the biggest solar projects worldwide.

The biggest project Adani Group has undertaken as on date is a 648-MW solar plant in Kamuthi, Tamil Nadu. ABB will design, supply, install and commission the power plant electrification and automation systems, pooling stations and multiple substations for the project.

The equipment ABB is to deploy includes two 230 kilovolt (kV) and three 110 kV substations to connect the electricity generated from the plant to the local grid.

ABB will be using its Symphony Plus control technology as the unified automation platform for performance monitoring, maximizing operational efficiency and ensuring grid compliance.

The IEC 61850 based automation system will facilitate local and remote monitoring and control of the plant and substation assets and is another example of ABB technologies enabling the Internet of Things, services and people.
