Greentech Lead Australia: Itron, provider of energy and
water resource management solutions, announced that Sydney Water, Australia’s
largest water utility, has selected Itron’s high-efficiency meters to replace
old meters that serve its residential and commercial customers in Sydney.
“As the leading global provider of water resource
management solutions, we are positioned to help Sydney Water manage supply,
optimize usage and conserve resources. The introduction of our product will
enable Sydney Water to take advantage of our innovative automated and advanced
metering solutions in the future,” said Sheena Trumble, Itron general manager,
Australia.
Sydney Water serves more than 4.6 million people,
supplying about 500 billion liters of water a year to homes and businesses.
Sydney Water will begin the 3-year-long installation of Itron meters on this
July. The new high-efficiency Itron meters will help Sydney Water continue to
meet rigorous national water standards.
Itron currently works with the Town of Port Douglas, the
City of Kalgoorlie, City West Water, South East Water, Yarra Valley Water and
Barwon Water in Australia.
