Greentech Lead Africa:
Itron, a provider of energy and water resource management solutions, has
partnered with ENAMC (National Company of Measurement and Control Instruments),
to deploy data collection system in Algeria.
The system will support the modernization of the electricity
network and enable commercial and industrial clients to better manage their
electricity consumption.
Under the contract, ENAMC will use Itron smart metering
technology at 58 distribution centers across Algeria.
ENAMC will locally produce tens of thousands of meters. Itron will
also supply the associated modems, and each center will be equipped with
Itron’s data collection system and the IT servers required to run the system.
ENAMC is a subsidiary of Sonelgaz, the national company of
electricity and gas, responsible for the whole generation, transmission and
distribution of electricity and gas in Algeria.
With this contract, both companies are looking forward to
expand their business in the region.
“Itron is proud to be selected by ENAMC to contribute to
modernizing Algeria’s commercial and industrial metering system. ENAMC’s and
Itron’s teams are joining forces to ensure this project is a success,” said
William Hosono, managing director, Itron Electricity Southern European and AFM
(French-speaking Africa).
