The latest renewable energy news includes announcements from R3 Lithium, Actis, Yeltica Energy, Evolution Power, and others.
R3 Lithium Raises $15 Million Series A and Starts Battery-Recycling Production
Georgia-based R3 Lithium has raised $15 million in Series A financing and started production at its commercial-scale battery-recycling facility. The company says the plant recovers lithium carbonate from recycled batteries, providing a domestic source of material that can be returned to the battery supply chain. The financing and production launch are separate material milestones: R3 now has additional growth capital while moving from technology development into commercial manufacturing. Battery recycling is becoming increasingly important as electric-vehicle and stationary-storage deployments increase the volume of lithium-containing batteries reaching end of life. R3 Lithium will use its recycling technology to recover lithium rather than relying exclusively on newly mined raw materials.
Actis Launches 2 GW Solar, Wind and Battery Platform in Mexico
Actis has launched Yeltica Energy, a Mexican greenfield renewable-energy platform targeting more than 2 GW of solar, wind and battery storage projects. The new platform gives the infrastructure investor a dedicated vehicle for developing utility-scale clean-energy assets in Mexico. Yeltica’s pipeline spans three technologies rather than relying solely on solar or wind, allowing future projects to combine renewable generation with battery storage. The 2 GW-plus target makes the platform a sizeable addition to Mexico’s development pipeline. Actis has extensive experience investing in power and renewable infrastructure in emerging markets. Yeltica will focus on taking greenfield projects through development and ultimately into construction and operation.
Korkia JV Secures £15 Million for UK Solar and Battery Pipeline
Evolution Power has secured a £15 million development finance facility to advance solar and battery energy-storage projects in the UK. Evolution Power is a joint venture between Finnish renewable-energy investor Korkia and Evolution Power Holdings. The facility will provide development capital for projects before they reach construction and long-term project financing. Solar-plus-storage development is central to the portfolio, allowing electricity generated by photovoltaic projects to be stored and dispatched at other times. The new £15 million facility is a financing milestone for the JV’s UK pipeline rather than an early-stage partnership announcement. Capital can be deployed across project development activities required to bring renewable assets toward ready-to-build status.
