Greentech Lead India: GreenTek Reman, a provider of
end-to-end electronic waste (E-waste) recycling company, has announced the
commissioning of its new state-of-the-art plant at Greater Noida,
India.
The new electronic waste recycling facility will be
spread over an area of 25000 sq ft with another 20000 sq ft under construction
phase.
E-waste generation in India 2012 to reach 1.2 million
tons by 2020
E-waste recycling has great potential in the country. The
strong growth in e-waste generation in India mounts at the rate of 15 percent
since 2005 to reach 1.2 million tons by 2020, according to the latest
“E-Waste Management Industry In India 2012” report from Research
and Markets.
The environment ministry has implemented new e-waste
recycling rules on March 1, 2012.
The concept of Extended Producer Responsibility has been
enshrined in these rules to make it a mandatory activity for the manufacturers
of electronic and electrical equipments. Under this the producers are
responsible for collection of e-waste generated from the end of life of their
products by setting up collection centers or take back systems either
individually or collectively.
The new GreenTek Reman plant will be able to complete the
whole process of recycling of the E-waste in a more efficient manner and will
reduce the time taken to recycle the waste at a commendable 10-15 hours.
“Our 20,000 sq ft plant at Greater Noida can ably handle
the complete processing of waste and also provide client friendly solutions
like pickup of e-waste from the client premises and complete data security. Our
plant is fully operative to cater to every requirement of the market,” said
Subir Bajaj, founder, GreenTek Reman.
“We are also looking forward to install 5 to 6 more
plants to cultivate e-waste zones across the country, this will aim at managing
the challenges of sustainable solutions for the e-waste problem in India,”
Bajaj added.
Safety concerns need to be addressed at such plants.
GreenTek Reman has got necessary clearances from the authorities such
as the UP Pollution Control Board for recycling of E-waste and clearance
from the Ministry of Environment & Forests. The company has also got
other certifications for this plant like ISO 14001:2004, ISO
9001:2008 & OHSAS 18001:2007.
