Greentech Lead Europe: Energos, a provider of an
environmentally beneficial solution to managing waste, announced that it will
provide its advanced recycling and anaerobic digestion technologies and
thermal treatment infrastructure for a residual waste project in Glasgow, led
by recycling and sustainable waste company, Viridor.
The Viridor facility will handle about 200,000 tonnes of
Glasgow’s residual household waste annually.
The project will enable enhanced recycling and energy recovery
from residual waste and is expected to save the city 254 million pounds across
the 25-year contract. The project also will reduce 90,000 tones of CO2 every
year through diversion from landfill and produce recyclate materials and
generate electricity from renewable sources.
UK-based Energos has a 15-year track record and more than
500,000 hours of operation at eight plants across Europe.
“Energos is pleased to be an integral part of
the proposed Glasgow Recycling and Renewable Energy Centre and we look forward
to being part of an environmentally responsible, small scale local solution for
local waste that would otherwise fill up landfill,” said Nick Dawber,
managing director of Energos.
