Greentech Lead India: Bio-diesel plants with an aggregate
capacity of 3470 tons per day have been set up by private companies. One
demonstration plant for production of three tons bio-diesel per day had been
set up by the Chattisgarh Bio-fuel Development Board in the year 2005.
Four plants with an aggregate capacity of 1750 tonnes per day have been set up
during the last three years by private companies in the States of Andhra
Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal, according to the Minister of New and
Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah.
No funds have been allocated or spent by the Central Government for setting up
of biodiesel plants. Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has informed that no
bio-diesel has been procured by oil marketing companies for blending with
diesel during last three years.
