WM Expands Recycling and Renewable Gas Facilities

WM is opening four new recycling and renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities in the U.S. These projects are part of a $3 billion investment from 2022-2026 to expand recycling and renewable energy. During Earth Month, WM will open upgraded recycling sites near Baltimore and in Central Texas, along with new RNG facilities in Chicago and Philadelphia. These projects cost over $323 million. The Mesquite Creek Recycling Facility in Texas is in a high-growth area, while the Elkridge Recycling Facility near Baltimore is WM’s largest by processing capacity. The Fairless RNG Facility near Philadelphia is WM’s biggest RNG site.

Conagra and Bloom Energy Adopt Fuel Cell Technology

Conagra Brands and Bloom Energy are installing fuel cell technology at Conagra’s Troy and Archbold, Ohio sites. This 15-year deal will provide six megawatts of power, covering 70-75 percent of the facilities’ electricity needs. The switch is expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 19 percent and supports Conagra’s 2030 sustainability goals. Bloom’s fuel cells produce electricity without combustion, reducing pollution. Conagra has also launched a $9 million program to support sustainability projects across its supply chain, focusing on waste reduction and responsible sourcing.

Crystal Clearwater Resources Appoints Mark Berg as Chairman

Crystal Clearwater Resources (CCR), a wastewater solutions company, has named Mark Berg as Chairman. Berg, formerly with Pioneer Natural Resources, played a key role in a major ExxonMobil merger and brings expertise in water management. CCR’s SPEC1 water treatment technology addresses wastewater challenges in shale oil production. After successful pilot projects in the Permian Basin, the company is preparing for commercial deployment.

EDP Renewables Launches Indiana Solar Park

EDP Renewables North America has opened the 100-megawatt Riverstart III Solar Park in Indiana. Amazon will buy all its electricity as part of its 100 percent renewable energy goal.The solar park powers 19,200 homes, generates $32.8 million in tax revenue, and created 350 construction jobs. Local landowners will receive $28 million in lease payments.EDP Renewables operates 1.7 gigawatts of wind and solar projects in Indiana and continues to invest in the state’s communities and businesses.

Canadian Solar and Flow Power Introduce Anti-Hail Panels

Canadian Solar and Flow Power are installing anti-hail solar panels in Australia. The first project, a solar and battery system in Coonawarra, South Australia, is set for 2025. These new panels protect against extreme weather, improving durability and reliability. Flow Power will use them in future projects to enhance solar farm resilience and power reliability.
