Greentech investment achieves five year high of $5.2 billion in 2011

Greentech Lead America: Greentech investment achieved a
five year high of $5.2 billion in 2011 and renewables hit an eight quarter low
on deal share in Q4 2011 representing 32 percent of deals.

According to CB Insights and the Wall Street Green Summit
released analytical report, 2011 was a record year for Greentech investment.
The study finds that renewables are losing ground as they clocked an eight
quarter low on deal share in Q4 2011, the high for renewables deal share stood
at 49 percent in Q2 2010.

According to the study, California is starting to lose
its dominant position in deal share showing a drop of more than 10 percent
since 2009 highs. This may reflect the depression in the California economy
since the 2008 crash.

Energy storage industries investment experienced a six
fold increase since 2007 and reaching a five year peak in 2011.

Smart Grid mergers and acquisitions are rising
considerably over the last two years with 40 deals completed.

The study also finds that the possibility of a resurgence
in early stage investment at the end of Q4 2011 with 40 percent of all venture
deals going to early stage companies.
