IKEA has invested in a Scottish company that specializes in energy efficient LED lighting technologies.
IKEA is a Swedish company that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, appliances and home accessories.
The retail firm’s venture capital arm IKEA GreenTech has entered into a deal with Design LED Products, which uses energy efficiency “light tiles” ,LEDs embedded into clear films.
Through this investment, the Scottish firm will expand its business and increase its offer of products that can be used in lighting designs for the home.
This technology opens up possibilities for innovative designs using energy efficient LEDs. The partnership is a strategic fit for IKEA and the goal to make living sustainably affordable for people, said, Christian Ehrenborg, managing director, IKEA GreenTech.
IKEA aims to switch its entire lighting range to LEDs by September next year.
