Walgreens, U.S. pharmacy retailers, selected Cree LED lighting for their store located at Goodyear, Ariz.
The LED lighting will help the retailer chain to lower their total cost of ownership compared to fluorescent lighting alternatives.
The 14,820 sq foot store will feature Cree LED troffers, linear luminaires and downlights, saving the retailer sufficient amount in annual energy and maintenance costs.
Jamie Meyers, manager, sustainability, Walgreens said, “Cree’s products help in lowering total cost of ownership since less power is consumedto illuminate all shelves over alternative light fixtures.” ‘
Meyers added that all new stores in future will be installed with LED lighting.
Cree LED support Walgreen’s commitment to PURE (People Using Resources Efficiently), which focuses on environmental sustainability by managing energy consumption.
LED technology complements the corporate social responsibility programs for retailers who are exemplifying the benefits of illumination with significant energy savings, the company said.
Cree CS18 and CS14 LED linear luminaires deliver vertical light levels throughout the sales floor, while Cree CR24 troffers, designed to last 100,000 hours, help Walgreens in maintenance needs in the pharmacy. The Cree luminaires are backed by ten year warranty.
