Lead Team: STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor provider serving
customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, has announced it has
been ranked among the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations by Corporate
Knights for the third consecutive year.
“This
ranking among global leaders in sustainability is further proof of our
long-standing belief that integrating sustainability and responsibility into
our business activities is not a cost burden but a recipe for even greater
success. For the past 25 years, we’ve been helping people get more from
technology to get more from life and we’re simultaneously contributing to
preserve the planet,” said Alain Denielle, corporate sustainable
development group vice president, STMicroelectronics.
ST moved up 8 places to the 75th
place on the list, compared to No. 83 in 2011 and No. 87 in 2010. It is one of
the only three semiconductor manufacturers to be included in the Global 100
list.
To compile
the Global 100 list, Corporate Knights and its partners ranked transparently
using a range of sustainability indicators, such as energy, water and waste
productivity, safety record, innovation capacity, employee turnover and
promptness in paying taxes.
“Since
2005, the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations have achieved a total return
of 41.70 percent, outperforming the MSCI All Country World Index by more than
11 percent. We hope this exemplary outperformance will inspire all companies to
follow the example of ST and the other Global 100 corporations in pursuing the
path to sustainable growth,” said Toby Heaps, CEO of Corporate Knights.
