OX2 Revises Western Australia Wind Project to 943 MW, Expands Battery Storage Duration
Swedish renewable-energy developer OX2 has revised its proposed Dinner Hill Wind Farm in Western Australia, reducing the planned turbine count while increasing battery storage flexibility. The updated development application provides for up to 131 turbines and 943 MW of wind capacity, compared with an earlier proposal involving 170 turbines and approximately 1.2 GW. The associated battery storage system could provide up to 300 MW with four to eight hours of discharge duration, equivalent to a maximum of 2,400 MWh. Located in the Shire of Dandaragan, the project covers approximately 30,024 hectares. Construction is provisionally targeted for 2029, with operations expected in 2032, subject to approvals and grid agreements.
SmartestEnergy Signs Power Purchase Agreement for 57 MW Whitelaw Brae Wind Farm in Scotland
SmartestEnergy has signed a power purchase agreement with Thrive Renewables covering the 57 MW Whitelaw Brae onshore wind farm in the Scottish Borders. Announced November 3, the project will incorporate 14 wind turbines and is expected to generate approximately 149,400 MWh of renewable electricity annually. That output is equivalent to the electricity requirements of around 45,000 UK households. Whitelaw Brae secured a Contract for Difference under the United Kingdom’s seventh allocation round. SmartestEnergy will provide electricity market access and commercial arrangements supporting the project’s renewable power sales. The development represents Thrive Renewables’ first transmission-connected asset and supports its objective of doubling portfolio generation capacity by 2028.
KPI Green Energy Signs 300 MW Wind Power Purchase Agreement with SJVN in India
Indian renewable-energy developer KPI Green Energy has executed a power purchase agreement with government-owned electricity producer SJVN for a 300 MW interstate transmission system-connected wind power project. The agreement was disclosed to Indian stock exchanges on November 3, confirming an important commercial milestone for the development. The contract establishes the framework for supplying electricity from the proposed wind installation to SJVN. The project will contribute to India’s renewable-energy expansion and provide additional utility-scale wind generation connected to the interstate electricity network. The company has not provided complete construction, commissioning or equipment procurement details in the announcement information reviewed.
