Turkiye Awards 785 MW Solar Capacity Across 11 Projects in November 2026 Auction
Turkiye’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has awarded 785 MW of solar electricity connection capacity across 11 projects under its YEKA GES-2026 renewable-energy auction programme. Announced November 3, the competition attracted 19 companies and 44 applications for projects across nine provinces. Winning electricity tariffs reached the auction floor of 3.25 euro cents per kWh, with developers competing through additional contribution payments. The largest individual project allocation was 200 MW in Diyarbakır, while other successful sites included Konya, Mardin, Malatya, Denizli and Ankara. The auction forms part of Turkiye’s wider renewable-energy expansion programme. Winning developers must complete subsequent contractual, permitting and construction requirements before the capacity becomes operational.
Squadron Energy Secures Planning Approval for 420 MW Moreton Hill Wind Farm in Australia
Australian renewable-energy developer Squadron Energy has received state planning approval for the 420 MW Moreton Hill Wind Farm in Victoria. Announced November 3, the project is located approximately 35 kilometres southwest of Ballarat and will incorporate up to 62 wind turbines. Once operational, the installation is expected to generate enough electricity for approximately 260,000 homes and avoid nearly 350,000 tonnes of emissions annually. The development will connect to the electricity network through a new underground 220 kV transmission line linking the wind farm to Berrybank terminal station. The project still requires Commonwealth environmental consent before construction can proceed. Squadron has not announced final investment approval or a commissioning date.
VERBUND Starts Construction of 72.6 MW Spille Wind Farm, Albania’s First Commercial Wind Project
Austrian electricity company VERBUND has started construction of the 72.6 MW Spille wind farm in Albania, marking a major development in the country’s renewable-energy market. Announced November 3, the project is located in Rrogozhinë in Albania’s Western Lowlands region. Construction is proceeding after the developer satisfied conditions under its development agreement and issued the notice to proceed. Nordex will supply the wind turbines and provide maintenance services for 15 years. STRABAG will undertake civil construction, while ENBI Power will develop the associated grid connection infrastructure. Commercial operation is targeted for the first quarter of 2028. The project will diversify Albania’s electricity generation portfolio, which has historically depended heavily on hydropower.
