Clearway Secures Financing for $400 Million, 210 MW Battery Storage Expansion in Utah
Clearway Energy Group has secured financing and started construction of an additional 210 MW of battery energy storage at its Honeycomb Energy Center in southern Utah. The expansion represents an investment of approximately $400 million, supported by long-term contracts with PacifiCorp. Financing institutions include KeyBank, US Bank, NORD/LB and CoBank. The project adds three battery facilities in Beaver and Iron counties, increasing Clearway’s Utah storage fleet to seven installations with 2,120 MWh of combined energy capacity. Construction contractor Rosendin will support at least 150 jobs. The new facilities are expected to generate approximately $37 million in additional local tax revenue during operations.
Tavion Starts Construction of 20 MW/40 MWh Battery Storage Project in Poland
Swedish energy storage developer Tavion has started construction of its first Polish battery storage facility, a 20 MW/40 MWh installation in Bydgoszcz. The two-hour battery is scheduled for grid connection in 2027. Esix Polska is responsible for balance-of-plant construction, HyperStrong is supplying battery integration technology, and Ayesa is acting as owner’s engineer. Tavion plans to begin construction of a second battery project in Luboń within two weeks, followed by another development. The facilities will connect to the Enea Operator distribution network. Tavion secured approximately €50 million in equity and debt financing in September 2026. Its Polish portfolio includes 184 MW of advanced projects within a 1.7 GW pipeline.
Parapet and MetaWealth Begin Construction of 50 MW/100 MWh Battery Storage Project in Romania
Romanian renewable-energy contractor Parapet and investment platform MetaWealth have started construction of a 50 MW/100 MWh battery energy storage system in Dumbrava-Deal, Neamț County. The project comprises 20 battery storage units, five power conversion units and a new 20/110 kV substation equipped with a 63 MVA transformer. Civil construction has started, while equipment deliveries are progressing. Kehua is supplying power conversion equipment. Commercial operation is targeted for spring 2027. MetaWealth intends to develop 200 MWh of battery capacity across its first two Romanian projects. Parapet is currently implementing storage installations totalling 514 MWh across three Romanian counties. The companies did not disclose project investment costs.
