Lafitte Solar Project Nears Full Operation as RWE Completes First Louisiana Installation

RWE has finished building its first project in Louisiana, the 100 MW Lafitte Solar facility in Ouachita Parish near Monroe. The site is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year. The project is backed by a long-term power purchase agreement with Meta, which will receive all environmental benefits including renewable energy certificates.

According to RWE Clean Energy CEO Andrew Flanagan, the project will supply low cost energy to the Louisiana grid and generate electricity for about 17,000 homes and businesses.

Lafitte Solar is expected to contribute about 32 million dollars in regional tax revenue over its lifetime, supporting schools and public services. Construction created more than 150 full time jobs at peak and boosted local businesses during the building phase.

Sunotec Selects GEN-I to Operate Two Large Battery Systems in Bulgaria

Sunotec has appointed GEN-I to manage two major battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Bulgaria, strengthening the country’s renewable power flexibility. The projects — a 25-MW/55-MWh system in Razlog and a 10-MW/22-MWh system in Dolna Banya — will support grid stability by storing excess solar power and delivering rapid-response energy during peak demand. This partnership reflects a strong investment in innovation, ensuring advanced forecasting, dispatch optimization, and revenue management. The initiative enhances customer focus by providing Bulgarian energy users with more reliable and cost-efficient clean electricity. Overall, Sunotec’s BESS expansion delivers significant benefits including improved grid resilience, reduced curtailment of renewables, and accelerated decarbonisation of Southeast Europe’s power system.

Trina Storage Secures 50-MW/200-MWh Battery Deal in Greece

Trina Storage has won a contract to supply a 50-MW/200-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) for a new project in Greece, marking a significant step in the country’s grid-stabilisation efforts. The investment includes Trina’s Elementa battery solution, known for high energy density, strong safety performance, and fast deployment — highlighting the company’s innovation in long-duration storage. The system will store excess renewable power and release it during peak demand, enhancing reliability and reducing reliance on fossil-fuel backup. The project delivers strong customer benefits, offering improved grid flexibility, better renewable integration, and lower system costs. This order strengthens Trina Storage’s presence in Europe and supports Greece’s broader goal of building a resilient, clean-energy future.
