Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements on Graphic Packaging, SINEXCEL, among others.
Graphic Packaging Signs 250MW Solar Deal with NextEra in Texas
Graphic Packaging Holding Company has signed a 250MW virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with NextEra Energy Resources to support a new solar project in West Texas. The Selenite Springs Energy Center, expected online by end-2027, will operate within the ERCOT market and supply renewable energy certificates covering about 43 percent of the company’s North American electricity use. The agreement marks Graphic Packaging’s largest VPPA to date, reinforcing its investment in renewable energy and commitment to reduce emissions. It supports the company’s target to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50.4 percent by 2032 and achieve net zero by 2050. The project highlights innovation in corporate clean energy sourcing, enhances grid reliability, and delivers long-term sustainability benefits for customers while supporting rising electricity demand in Texas.
SINEXCEL Powers Large-Scale Industrial Storage Project in China
SINEXCEL has completed grid connection of a 107.12MW/428.48MWh battery energy storage system in Guangyuan, Sichuan, developed for Zhongfu Industrial. The project uses SINEXCEL’s 1725kW PCS units to enable peak shaving, reducing electricity costs in energy-intensive aluminium smelting operations. The system is expected to save over 60 million yuan annually and cut approximately 52,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, highlighting strong investment returns and sustainability benefits. Advanced PCS technology delivers 98.5 percent efficiency, rapid response, and high durability in demanding industrial environments. This deployment showcases innovation in commercial and industrial (C&I) storage, improving reliability, preventing production losses, and supporting energy security while delivering long-term economic and environmental value for industrial customers.
