DESRI and Ranger Power Initiate 290 MWac Solar Projects in Michigan

DESRI and Ranger Power have closed financing and commenced construction on a 290-megawatt alternating current (MWac) solar energy portfolio in Michigan. This initiative marks a significant step in advancing renewable energy infrastructure in the region. The projects are expected to contribute substantially to Michigan’s clean energy goals, providing sustainable power to the grid.

North Star Names Offshore Wind Vessel Grampian Kestrel

North Star has named its first commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) as Grampian Kestrel during a ceremony in Norway. The vessel is built to support offshore wind projects by providing maintenance services and crew transfers. Grampian Kestrel is the first of four CSOVs ordered by North Star, forming part of the company’s strategy to expand in the offshore wind sector. The vessel will begin operations in 2025 under a long-term charter supporting the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, one of the world’s largest offshore wind developments.

Equans & Smulders Complete Load-Out of HK West Beta Substation

Equans and Smulders have completed the load-out of the 4,200-tonne topside for the Hollandse Kust (west Beta) offshore substation in Belgium. The platform is en route to its final site, 50km off Egmond aan Zee. This is the third and final substation built by the joint venture for TenneT, following the “noord” and “west Alpha” platforms. Once installed atop its pre-positioned jacket by Sleipnir, the 700 MW substation will connect offshore wind power to the Dutch grid, advancing national renewable energy goals.

Google & Shell PPA to Extend Life of Offshore Wind Farm

Google and Shell have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to extend the life of the 108MW NoordzeeWind offshore wind farm in the Netherlands beyond its original 2027 decommissioning date. Operational since 2006 and located off the Dutch coast, NoordzeeWind is the country’s first offshore wind farm and a joint venture between Shell and Nuon (now part of Vattenfall). The new PPA ensures at least four additional years of clean energy production, supporting Google’s sustainability goals and reinforcing the Netherlands’ long-term renewable energy transition and carbon reduction efforts.
