China Three Gorges Connects First Turbines at 1.95 GW Qingzhou Offshore Wind Project

China Three Gorges Corporation has connected the first turbines at its Yangjiang Qingzhou V and VII offshore wind development in Guangdong, which comprises 163 turbines totalling more than 1.95 GW. Electricity is collected through 30 circuits of 66 kV subsea cables before reaching an offshore converter station and being transmitted approximately 70 km to shore through a ±500 kV DC system. The development uses what the company describes as the first ±500 kV DC submarine cable developed for offshore wind. All 163 turbines were installed within 14 months. The array also incorporates the 16 MW Three Gorges Lead floating wind platform, connected using a 66 kV dynamic subsea cable.

Linea Energy Closes Financing for 250 MW / 500 MWh Texas Battery Project

EnCap-backed Linea Energy has closed project debt financing and preferred-equity commitments for the 250 MW/500 MWh Mesa View standalone battery project in Upton County, Texas. The debt package comprises a construction-to-term loan, tax-equity bridge loan and letter-of-credit facility. NORD/LB served as coordinating lead arranger, with Texas Capital participating as a syndicate lender. D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments provided the preferred-equity commitment. Mesa View will operate in the ERCOT electricity market, where rapid additions of solar, wind and electricity demand are increasing requirements for flexible capacity. The financing moves another large US battery development into construction-stage execution and expands Linea Energy’s portfolio of utility-scale renewable and storage infrastructure.

Alight Acquires 2 GW Swedish Solar and Battery Development Portfolio

Nordic independent power producer Alight has acquired 40 utility-scale solar projects totalling approximately 2 GW in southern Sweden from Soltech Energy Solutions. The projects are distributed across the SE3 and SE4 electricity price zones, and most include options to install co-located battery energy storage. The transaction increases Alight’s Nordic solar and storage development pipeline to more than 5 GW. Completion followed approval from Sweden’s Inspectorate of Strategic Products. The portfolio provides Alight with a substantial pipeline of projects that can combine solar generation with batteries to use grid connections more efficiently and shift electricity production into higher-value periods. Financial consideration and individual project construction schedules were not disclosed.
