Greentech Lead America: CarCharging, a nationwide
electric vehicle (EV) charging service provider, in partnership with City of
Hollywood has deployed EV charging services at three locations in the city. All
three service locations were installed in public parking garages owned by the
city and are there to serve community members and visitors alike.
CarCharging has deployed two EV charging services in the
city center to serve downtown businesses, residents and visitors, and one near
the beach.
“Encouraging and supporting the use of electric
vehicles is part of Hollywood’s overall commitment to sustainable and
environmentally sound practices. Installing CarCharging stations is one more
way Hollywood continues to raise the bar when it comes to promoting
sustainability,” said Lorie Mertens-Black, City of Hollywood director of
parking & intergovernmental affairs.
CarCharging’s service utilizes a Coulomb Technologies EV
fast charging station, known as Level II, which provides 240 volts with 32 amps
of power to quickly refuel an electric vehicle’s battery.
CarCharging EV charging stations utilize the standard
SAE J1772 connector widely adopted by nearly all automobile manufacturers. EV
drivers can easily register and create a CarCharging account online, and attach
a small card to their keychain to initiate use and payment at any intelligent
CarCharging station. The CarCharging keychain card also allows drivers to use
charging locations on the ChargePoint Network. CarCharging also accepts direct
payment via credit card.
The ChargePoint mobile application also provides
real-time charging station locations with turn-by-turn directions. Drivers
will soon be able to reserve a time slot, guaranteeing access to EV charging
stations to recharge their electric vehicle.
“CarCharging is committed to delivering EV charging
services across the country and throughout Florida, and we encourage other
cities to take Hollywood’s lead in rolling out EV charging infrastructure to
facilitate public charging of electric vehicles,” said Michael D. Farkas,
CEO of CarCharging.
