AMP-lify Starts 200 MWh Battery Project in Japan with ¥6.48 Billion ING Financing

Japanese clean-energy developer AMP-lify has started construction of a 50 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage facility in Mihama, Fukui Prefecture. The company also completed approximately ¥6.48 billion ($41 million) in project financing from ING, which acted as sole lender, mandated lead arranger, account bank, hedge provider and green loan coordinator. The four-hour battery is scheduled to begin commercial operation in 2027. It will operate on a merchant basis, earning revenue through wholesale electricity trading, balancing services and capacity markets. The development will be accompanied by a separate 2 MW/8 MWh auxiliary battery facility. AMP-lify plans to bring more than 1 GWh of grid-scale battery capacity online between 2027 and 2030.

Entech Wins €40 Million EPC Contract for 90 MW/180 MWh Battery Storage Project in France

French energy technology company Entech has secured an engineering, procurement and construction contract valued at nearly €40 million for a 90 MW/180 MWh battery storage facility in metropolitan France. The customer is a major French electricity producer whose identity has not been disclosed. Entech will deliver the project on a turnkey basis, covering engineering studies, equipment procurement, subcontractor selection, construction and commissioning. The contract includes construction of a high-voltage substation connecting the battery to the 90 kV transmission network operated by RTE. Entech will also provide five years of operations and maintenance services. The company describes the agreement as its largest standalone EPC contract. Entech has completed more than 400 projects.

MaxSolar and N-ergie Start Construction of 20 MW/100 MWh Grid-Support Battery in Germany

German renewable-energy developer MaxSolar and distribution network operator N-ergie Netz have started construction of a 20 MW/100 MWh battery storage facility near Winterschneidbach in the Ansbach district of southern Germany. N-ergie awarded the construction contract to MaxSolar in March 2026 following a competitive process involving more than 20 bidders. The five-hour battery will operate according to local electricity distribution network requirements rather than exclusively responding to wholesale electricity prices. It will store surplus renewable generation when network capacity is constrained and release electricity when capacity becomes available. The project is designed to increase the distribution network’s ability to accommodate additional renewable generation. Investment value and the commissioning timetable were not disclosed.
