Vena Energy Sells 49% Stake in 500 MWp Philippines Solar Project for $72 Million
Vena Energy has signed agreements to sell a combined 49 percent ownership interest in its 500 MWp Ixus Bugallon Solar Power Project in Pangasinan, Philippines, to Norfund and Impact Fund Denmark. The investors will contribute $72 million in equity. Vena previously secured approximately $310 million in senior debt financing from eight international banks. Vena will retain majority ownership and operational involvement. Completion remains subject to Philippine Competition Commission approval and customary conditions.
EU Approves $33.4 Billion Acquisition of AES Corporation by GIP and EQT Consortium
The European Commission has approved the proposed $33.4 billion acquisition of US electricity company AES Corporation by an investor consortium led by Global Infrastructure Partners and EQT. The acquisition group also includes the California Public Employees’ Retirement System and Qatar Investment Authority. The transaction, originally announced in March 2026, values AES equity at approximately $10.7 billion, with shareholders receiving $15 per share in cash. The European Commission concluded that the acquisition would not significantly reduce competition in affected markets. The transaction previously received clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States in August. AES operates conventional and renewable generation assets, battery storage and electricity infrastructure across multiple international markets.
