Northern Sun Starts 11.5 MW Solar Plus 10 MWh Storage Projects in Massachusetts
Northern Sun Energy has started construction of two community solar developments in Swansea, Massachusetts, combining 11.5 MWdc of photovoltaic capacity with 10 MWh of battery energy storage. Pairing batteries with community solar allows electricity generated during sunny periods to be shifted toward times when local demand and electricity values are higher. The construction milestone moves both projects from development into physical execution and adds to Massachusetts’ growing distributed-energy portfolio. Community solar enables households and businesses unable to install their own rooftop systems to subscribe to renewable generation located elsewhere. Vestas Books 119 MW of New Wind Turbine Orders Across Three European Markets
Vestas has secured turbine orders totalling 119 MW for three onshore wind projects in Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland. The orders add to Vestas’ European manufacturing and installation pipeline as developers continue replacing ageing generation and adding new wind capacity. Multi-market orders are important indicators of underlying turbine demand because they demonstrate investment across different regulatory and electricity-market environments rather than dependence on a single national market. EnerSynk Signs PPA with ZESCO for 500 MW Solar Project in Zambia
EnerSynk Group has signed a power purchase agreement with Zambia’s state-owned utility ZESCO for a planned 500 MW solar project, providing the large-scale development with a critical commercial route to market. The latest PPA follows earlier regulatory and development approvals for the project and therefore represents a materially new milestone. At 500 MW, the solar farm could become one of Zambia’s largest photovoltaic developments and help diversify an electricity system that remains heavily dependent on hydropower. Zambia has faced power shortages when drought conditions reduce hydro generation, increasing the strategic value of large solar investments.
