Kinetik Sustainability Report 2025: Cuts GHG Emissions Intensity 19%, Methane 50% as Net-Zero 2050 Strategy Gains Momentum

Kinetik Holdings is accelerating its sustainability and decarbonization strategy through measurable greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions, renewable energy investments, carbon management projects, workforce development, and stronger ESG governance. The company’s latest sustainability performance highlights significant progress toward its climate goals while improving operational efficiency, supporting communities, and creating long-term environmental and economic value.

Since its 2021 baseline, Kinetik has reduced combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions intensity by approximately 19 percent while cutting methane emissions intensity by around 50 percent across its operated assets.

Kinetik has achieved a 68 percent reduction in methane emissions from fuel gas and compressor blowdowns through system upgrades since 2021. In addition, Kinetik has reduced methane emissions from pneumatic devices and pumps by 34 percent through conversion from natural gas-driven pneumatic devices and pumps to instrument air systems since 2021.

The improvements have been driven by operational enhancements, electrification initiatives, advanced leak detection and repair programs, engineering upgrades, facility modernization, and infrastructure designed to reduce venting and flaring, Kinetik sustainability report 2025 said.

The company has established ambitious climate targets to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions intensity by 35 percent by 2030 and lower methane emissions intensity by 30 percent by 2030, both relative to the 2021 baseline. These milestones support Kinetik’s long-term objective of achieving net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, CEO Jamie Welch said.

Operational innovation remains central to Kinetik’s low-carbon growth strategy. The company continues to expand compression electrification, engineering improvements, residue gas sales infrastructure, and carbon management initiatives. It is also developing dedicated carbon sequestration infrastructure to capture and permanently store carbon dioxide emissions, supporting industrial decarbonization and long-term emissions management.

Kinetik is further advancing cleaner energy through Project Roadrunner, a collaboration with Infinium that will supply ultra-low-carbon carbon dioxide feedstock for commercial electrofuels production. The project is expected to support lower lifecycle emissions while expanding the commercial deployment of low-carbon fuels.

Renewable energy plays an increasingly important role in Kinetik’s operations. The company sources electricity generated from West Texas wind and solar resources through structured utility agreements and Renewable Energy Certificate retirements to reduce Scope 2 emissions from purchased electricity.

To strengthen renewable energy deployment across its assets, Kinetik has installed more than 1,500 solar panels, which now power the vast majority of gas measurement and sampling operations. The solar-powered infrastructure reduces dependence on conventional electricity while improving energy efficiency and operational reliability.

Safety and workforce development remain key priorities. During the reporting period, Kinetik completed more than 20,000 hours of employee and contractor training covering environmental, health and safety practices, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. These training programs strengthen workforce capabilities while reinforcing safe and efficient operations.

Kinetik also continues to expand its social impact through community investment programs. The company contributes more than $1.6 million annually to charitable organizations, nonprofit initiatives, youth development programs, and regional economic partnerships. Its support includes organizations such as BEAR – Be a Resource for CPS Kids and the Permian Strategic Partnership, helping improve education, strengthen local communities, and promote sustainable regional development.

Kinetik Chief Operating Officer Matt Wall said the company’s sustainability initiatives continue to improve operational performance, environmental outcomes, and safety, with meaningful reductions in combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions and methane emissions achieved through compression electrification, renewable energy sourcing, and other operational improvements.

With 19 percent lower combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions intensity, 50 percent lower methane emissions intensity, more than 1,500 solar panels, over 20,000 hours of workforce training, more than $1.6 million in annual community investments, 35 percent and 30 percent emissions reduction targets for 2030, and a net-zero 2050 commitment, Kinetik is strengthening its position as a low-carbon energy infrastructure company while delivering long-term value for customers, communities, and shareholders.
