The sixth edition of Windergy India, a trade fair and conference dedicated to the wind energy sector, is scheduled to take place from October 23-25, 2024, at the Chennai Trade Centre. This three-day event aims to bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to accelerate wind energy advancements in line with India’s renewable energy goals.
India is currently the fourth-largest country in terms of wind energy installations, with a total installed capacity of 47,192.33 MW as of August 2024. The wind energy sector is crucial to India’s strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy security, and creating employment opportunities, especially in rural areas.
Recent developments include the Union Cabinet’s approval of 1 GW of offshore wind energy projects in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. These projects, with an investment of Rs 7,453 crore, are expected to produce 3.72 billion units of renewable electricity annually and reduce 2.98 million tons of CO2 emissions. This reflects India’s commitment to achieving its Net Zero 2070 targets.
Windergy India 2024, hosted by the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) and PDA Ventures, will feature 300 exhibitors, international pavilions, and a two-day conference. Key topics will include regulatory frameworks, market trends, financing, and technological innovations. The event will also showcase the latest advancements in wind turbines and components, attracting stakeholders from countries such as Denmark, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
Major players like Envision Energy, Suzlon Energy, and Everrenew Energy are participating as partners.
Industry associations such as Wind Independent Power Producers Association (WIPPA) and International Solar Alliance (ISA) will lend their support, making Windergy India 2024 a pivotal platform for collaboration and growth in India’s renewable energy journey.
