Vestas has received a wind turbine order from the RWE-TotalEnergies JV for their OranjeWind offshore wind farm, formerly known as Hollandse Kust West VII, in the Netherlands.

Vestas will be supplying 53 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines. Vestas will be responsible for the supply, delivery, and commissioning of the wind turbines. Vestas will also service the assets under a 5-year service agreement followed by an operational support agreement.

Last week, RWE and TotalEnergies announced their 50-50 joint venture to deliver the OranjeWind offshore wind project. The project has an installed capacity of 795 MW; a grid connection capacity of 760 MW and an excess capacity of 35 MW to use the connection capacity as efficiently as possible, even when production is lower.

The OranjeWind offshore wind project site is located around 53 km off the Dutch coast in the North Sea. Wind turbine installation is expected to start in 2027.

RWE will lead the development, construction and operation of the wind farm. Offshore construction is scheduled to start in 2026, with full commissioning expected in early 2028. With an expected annual generation of around 3 terawatt hours OranjeWind will produce enough green electricity to supply the equivalent of more than one million Dutch households.

The JV has signed a foundation supply agreement with SiF for 53 monopiles. The inter-array cables will be supplied by TKF. Jan De Nul will be responsible for transport and installation of the foundations and wind turbines.

The offshore grid connection will be implemented by the network operator TenneT. For this purpose, the inter-array cables will be connected to the TenneT-owned offshore substation from where the export cables will run to the high-voltage onshore substation in Wijk aan Zee.
