Vestas, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, has received its firm order for the V172-7.2 MW wind turbines, the latest addition to Vestas’ EnVentus Platform.

The order has been placed by Uhl Windkraft, a prominent developer, and encompasses six wind turbines designated for the Hoßkirch wind project. This collaborative effort involves a partnership with the Comital House of Koenigsegg-Aulendorf.

The order encompasses the supply, delivery, and commissioning of these cutting-edge wind turbines. Upon project completion, Vestas will provide ongoing service and maintenance under a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, aimed at ensuring the optimized performance and reliability of the wind assets.

“The V172-7.2 MW order for Vestas marks the next milestone for our modular platform architecture. The V172-7.2 MW offers a great business case, especially in a low-wind environment such as in Baden-Württemberg and is an important contribution to Germany’s energy transition,” Jens Kuck, Senior Vice President Sales Onshore for Northern and Central Europe at Vestas, said.

The V172-7.2 MW wind turbine is expertly designed to optimize energy production in areas with low to medium average wind conditions. Its innovative design considers the entire value chain, featuring modular design for improved transportability of the nacelle unit, along with the flexibility to efficiently service and upgrade the turbines throughout their operational lifespan.

The Hoßkirch wind project is situated in Hoßkirch, located 40 kilometers north of Friedrichshafen in Germany. Vestas said wind turbine deliveries are scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2025, with commissioning slated for completion in the third quarter of the same year.

Vestas’ commitment to sustainable energy solutions, coupled with the introduction of cutting-edge technology like the V172-7.2 MW wind turbine, underscores the company’s dedication to advancing renewable energy and bolstering Germany’s efforts in transitioning towards a greener and more sustainable future.
