Vestas, a global leader in sustainable energy solutions, has won a 50 MW order for a wind project situated in the northwestern region of Spain. The order has been placed by Sinia Renovables, the esteemed renewable power investment arm of Banc Sabadell, known for its dedication to climate transition assets.

The contract entails the supply of 11 cutting-edge V136-4.5 MW wind turbines, heralding a substantial step forward in Spain’s renewable energy landscape. Furthermore, Vestas will provide a comprehensive 25-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainable and efficient energy production.

“It is critical for Sinia to work with partners in our effort to keep deepening the decarbonisation of the Spanish economy,” Xavier Gasquez, Managing Director of Sinia Renovables, said.

The turbine delivery process is anticipated to commence in the second quarter of 2024, setting the stage for a significant reduction in carbon emissions. The project is estimated to prevent approximately 44,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. To put this in perspective, the environmental impact is akin to removing 30,000 European passenger cars from the road each year.

This initiative will also benefit from Vestas’ robust service and manufacturing infrastructure in Spain. Currently boasting 19 service centers across the country and a blade manufacturing facility in Daimiel, Ciudad Real, Vestas has an impressive track record. Since the installation of its inaugural turbine in 1991, Vestas has harnessed its expertise to deploy over 5.1 GW of wind energy across more than 130 wind parks in Spain.
