Orsted and PGE will have 50-50 partnership for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm. The project will be located approximately 40 km off the Polish coast near Ustka and commission in 2027.
Baltica 2 has secured a 25-year inflation-protected contract for difference (CfD) with the Polish state. All necessary permits and a grid connection contract with Polish transmission system operator PSE have been obtained. Major component and vessel contracts have been signed, securing most of the project’s CAPEX and reducing risk.
Orsted’s Deputy CEO, Rasmus Errboe, emphasized the project’s strong risk-reward profile and its role in shaping Poland’s offshore wind industry.
PGE’s CEO, Dariusz Marzec, highlighted its contribution to energy diversification, security, and economic growth.
Orsted’s Managing Director for Offshore Poland, Agata Staniewska-Bolesta, underlined the project’s significance in Poland’s energy transition and its ability to power 2.5 million households.
Poland’s energy policy targets 5.9 GW of offshore wind by 2030 and 11 GW by 2040. Baltica 2 will use the Port of Gdansk for pre-assembly and offshore installation. It will feature 107 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW-222 turbines, installed by Cadeler and Fred. Olsen Windcarrier, with Van Oord handling foundations and substations.
The CfD runs for 25 years, with pricing based on a 2021 benchmark of EUR 71.82 per MWh, adjusted annually for inflation. After the CfD period, Baltica 2 will sell electricity at market rates or enter new power purchase agreements.
