Vestas has taken over operations at the onshore blades factory in Goleniów near Szczecin, Poland, previously owned by LM Wind Power. The acquisition, finalized after an agreement signed on 15 May 2025 and the successful completion of regulatory approvals, strengthens Vestas’ European manufacturing footprint and supply chain.
Strengthening Europe’s Wind Energy Supply Chain
The Goleniów blades factory, established in 2009 and expanded in 2017, will now deliver blades for Vestas onshore wind solutions, including the advanced V172-7.2 MW EnVentus turbine. This strategic acquisition aligns with Vestas’ commitment to meet Europe’s growing demand for secure, affordable, and sustainable energy.
Boosting Jobs and Local Manufacturing in Poland
With this acquisition, Vestas retains all 400 former LM Wind Power employees, raising its workforce in Poland to nearly 2,000 employees. This reinforces Poland’s role as a hub for renewable energy manufacturing and job creation, while also supporting the region’s green energy transition goals.
Vestas already operates an assembly factory in Szczecin, which produces hubs and nacelles for the powerful V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbine. Together, the Goleniów and Szczecin facilities significantly enhance Vestas’ ability to serve both onshore and offshore wind energy markets across Europe and beyond.
Felix Henseler, Vestas’ Chief Technology and Operations Officer, said that expanding Vestas’ manufacturing capacity, through the acquisition of the Goleniów factory, is crucial for supporting Europe’s secure, affordable, and sustainable energy goals, boosting industrial competitiveness, and driving growth and job creation in the wind industry with strong long-term policy support.
Commitment to Poland’s Energy Transition
Poland is increasingly becoming a focal point for renewable energy investment. By expanding its local operations, Vestas is not only scaling up production but also contributing to energy security, sustainability, and regional competitiveness.
The company’s strategic investment highlights confidence in the Polish market and showcases how manufacturing and innovation in Europe can accelerate the wind industry’s growth with the right long-term policy framework.
