Vestas has acquired LM Wind Power’s blade manufacturing facility in Goleniow, Poland, from GE Vernova expanding its production network in Europe.
The financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed. The acquisition underscores Vestas’ commitment to bolstering its European manufacturing capabilities amid the continent’s urgent push for affordable and sustainable energy solutions.
Strategically located near Szczecin, the Goleniow factory has been producing blades for Vestas’ onshore wind solutions and will continue to play a crucial role in meeting the increasing demand for wind energy across Poland and Europe. The facility, established in 2009 and expanded in 2017, is equipped to produce blades for the V172-7.2 MW turbine.
“This acquisition reinforces our strategic objective to secure and scale up our European supply chain as Europe intensifies its transition towards renewable energy,” said Anders Nielsen, Chief Technology and Operations Officer at Vestas.
For LM Wind Power and its parent company, GE Vernova, the deal represents a strategic divestment aimed at optimizing its manufacturing footprint within the European Union.
“This transaction allows us to simplify our business and redirect resources to core EU manufacturing facilities dedicated to GE Vernova wind products,” said Hanif Mashal, CEO of LM Wind Power.
Vestas will assume full operational control of the Goleniów factory, positioning it as a vital component of its European production strategy.
