Siemens bags 50 MW onshore wind project in Turkey

Greentech Lead Europe: Siemens Energy has been awarded a
contract to provide 22 wind turbines of the SWT-2.3-108 type for the onshore
wind power project Dinar in Turkey. Olgu Enerji Uretim, an affiliate of Güriş
Holding and Mogan Enerji Yatırım Holding are developing this wind power
project.

Siemens will supply wind turbines with an output of 2.3
MW for this 50 MW project. A rotor diameter of 108 meters will be installed on
80 meter hub height steel towers.

As per the agreement, Siemens’ responsibilities include
the delivery, installation and commissioning as well as a five year service
contract. The Dinar project will be the third Siemens wind project in Turkey
after Mahmudiye (30 MW) and Dagpazari (39 MW), according to media reports.

The Dinar project will be located outside Afyon City, in South Western Turkey.
Installation of the project will begin in fall 2012 and commissioning expected
to be finalized in early 2013. Turkey has the target to increase the country’s
installed wind power capacity to 20 Gigawatt (GW) by 2023. So far, Turkey has
1.8 GW wind power installed.

Siemens Energy recently received
an onshore wind order from MidAmerican Energy Company for its 407.1 MW wind project
expansion.
