Ming Yang Wind Power has announced that its MY1.5-89 wind turbine has received the GL 2010 Type Certification awarded by DNV-GL.

The MY1.5-89 wind turbine is part of the Ming Yang 1.5MW wind turbine platform and can even operate in low wind speed areas.

The three-bladed MY1.5-77 machine, on which this new model is based, is developed from a design by Aerodyn. Ming Yang has independently developed the new blades for the MY1.5-89.

Ming Yang has also adapted the turbine for use on high-altitude projects.

Due to the increase in number of turbines commissioned, revenue of the company increased by 52 percent compared with last year, hitting CNY 1.2 billion ($194 million).

Formed in 2013, by merging of two global certification bodies DNV (Det Norske Veritas) and GL (Germanische Lloyd), DNV-GL is an independent certification body in global renewable energy industry.

This signifies a major achievement in attaining international quality standards and a crucial step towards internationalization, noted, Chuanwei Zhang, chairman, CEO, Ming Yang.

The MY1.5-89 wind turbine follows the already accredited MY1.5-77 in achieving international type certification. The wind turbines manufactured by the company with various specifications prove to be an effective solution for various applications in wind technology across China and other countries.
