GE has won a 151 MW wind turbine order from Huaneng Corporation of China for a plant located at Yunnan Province.

For GE, the deal is the biggest wind turbine agreement in China so far. The contract also includes a two-year service agreement from GE.

GE will supply around 55 of its 2.75-120 turbines to the Huaneng Dali Longquan wind project. A shipping schedule has yet to be chartered.

The deal is considered to be a boost for GE, particularly in Chinese market where foreign turbine makers are constantly struggling to set foot in.

The proven technology provided by GE 2.75-120 turbines, well-suited for the local land constraints and the high-altitude project site is one of the
reasons behind picking GE, according to Huaneng Renewables authorities.

In addition, GE recently received various first-time orders for wind turbines from countries including Morocco, Pakistan and Croatia, with targets to supply turbines to 35 nations this year.

GE’s growth is initiated among enhanced wind-turbine sales in addition to data-analytics and Internet of Things products which will help to boost the turbines’ output.

China offers heavy profits for foreign OEMs that can capture even a small percentage of the market.

According to experts, China installed 20.7GW of wind capacity last year making it the world’s largest wind market for the sixth year uninterruptedly.

China wants to be able to get 15 percent of its energy from renewables by 2020.
