Gamesa wins 220MW wind turbine contracts in India

Wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa has signed agreements to supply 220 MW of wind turbines to three power producers in Indian wind energy market.

The company will distribute and install at five wind farms situated across the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka.

The projects will use 110 of the G97-2.0 MW turbines in total which will be delivered by March 2015.Gamesa will be responsible for long term operation and management of the turbines.

Ramesh Kymal, chairman, managing director, Gamesa, India, stated, “These valuable orders from independent power producers prove our expertise and signify our market presence in Indian wind industry. We are looking forward to have such esteemed collaborations in the future”.

India represented 33 percent of Gamesa’s sales in Q1 2014.The company has a lead market share in India as wind turbine OEM in 2013. So far, they have installed 1,100 MW and managed 850 MW capacity under O&M agreements.

Recently Gamesa also won two orders to supply 290 MW in North America , 100 MW in Mexico and 190 MW in the United States.

Gamesa, with EDP Renováveis, will supply 95, G114-2.0 MW turbines for Waverly wind farm in Coffey in Kansas. Under the terms of the contract signed in 2Q 2014, Gamesa will also supply and install 50 G97-2.0 MW turbines at a wind farm located in central Mexico.

Gamesa has installed 1,067 MW and services 873 MW in Mexico already. Gamesa has developed, built and commissioned close to 250 MW and it is building another 70 MW of wind farm in Mexico.
