Vestas has secured a 124 MW turbine order from EDF Power Solutions North America for the Haute-Chaudiere wind project in Québec.
The contract includes 20 EnVentus V162-6.2 MW wind turbines and a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, underscoring Vestas’ ongoing strategy to deliver tailored, high-efficiency solutions in partnership with long-standing developers.
The project, awarded under Hydro-Quebec’s latest tender, highlights Vestas’ critical role in meeting the province’s target of 10 GW of new wind capacity by 2035. It also strengthens the 2.9 GW collaborative legacy between Vestas and EDF across North America.
“Strong partnerships like this are essential to Québec’s clean energy transition,” said Laura Beane, President of Vestas North America.
Strategically, Vestas is deepening its presence in Canada’s onshore wind market, with over 5 GW installed across all provinces. In Quebec, the company already services 428 MW and is advancing an additional 347 MW project.
The Haute-Chaudiere deal reflects Vestas’ broader commitment to regional localization, including collaboration with Quebec-based Marmen for turbine towers — supporting 130 direct jobs in Trois-Rivières.
Delivery is set to begin in Q2 2026, with commissioning by Q4 2026, further anchoring Vestas’ supply chain and execution capabilities in the Canadian renewables market, the wind turbine maker said.
