Envision Energy, a global player in renewable energy solutions, has triumphed in securing a substantial order from JSW Energy for the development of a 653.4 MW wind energy park spanning Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Under this agreement, Envision Energy will supply 198 units of its EN 156-3.3 MW Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs). The project, slated for phased commissioning by the end of Calendar Year 2024, is anticipated to generate a total of 2200 GWh units of clean energy. This move is expected to significantly propel India towards achieving its net-zero emissions targets.
With an investment totaling around Rs 500 crores, this venture solidifies India’s position as a strategic market for Envision, creating over 2,000 job opportunities both directly and indirectly. The partnership with JSW Energy is projected to play a pivotal role in augmenting renewable energy capacity in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Envision’s proven track record in global markets, including China and Vietnam, highlights the potential of their WTGs to enhance India’s wind energy landscape. These turbines, featuring a rotor diameter of 156 meters, a hub height of 140 meters, and a rated capacity of 3.3 MW, are optimally designed for the Indian wind regime.
RPV Prasad, CEO of Envision Wind Power Technologies India, stated, “We would be assembling the nacelle and hubs for the wind turbines at our Pune factory, blades from our Trichy factory, and sourcing tower components from our manufacturers based out of Maharashtra.”
In India, Envision has already commissioned 330 MW of wind projects and secured additional projects exceeding 4.7 GW. The company has fortified its manufacturing capabilities, with an annual capacity of 3 GW for Nacelle & Hub in Pune and a 2.5 GW capacity for blades with 9 moulds at its Trichy plant.
Envision has significantly expanded its footprint in India, operating across six states, collaborating with 12 clients, and managing operations on 20+ project sites, boasting a cumulative order book nearing an impressive 5 GW.
According to the 2022 Global Wind Turbine Market Shares report by BloombergNEF, Envision Energy secured the 4th position globally. Moreover, the company has received orders exceeding 15 GWh for its energy storage systems. Notably, in 2022, Envision Energy achieved global operational carbon neutrality, certified by Carbon Trust, according to the PAS2060 standard.
