EDF Renewable Energy signs PPA with Great Plains Energy

EDF Renewable Energy, entered into a 20 year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Great Plains Energy, for the 150 MW Slate Creek Wind Project in Kansas.

Slate Creek Wind Project, located at Kansas, in Sumner County will consist of 75 Vestas, 2.0 MW wind turbines. Construction work will begin in late 2014 and plant will be operational by 2015.

Kate O’Hair, development director, central region, EDF Renewable Energy, commented, “The group is offering a quality wind energy project that allows Great Plains to diversify their generation portfolio with sustainable wind energy.”

Terry Bassham, president, CEO, Great Plains Energy said, “This new wind project will assure clean, renewable energy to the region and the firm is looking forward to an environment friendly generation to the energy mix.”

EDF Renewable Energy is renewable energy developers in North America with 5.7 GW of wind, solar and biogas projects developed throughout the U.S and Canada. With the addition of Slate Creek, EDF RE will have developed 400 MW of wind energy projects in Kansas.
