CWind grabs £5.5m Duddon offshore wind plant deal

CWind has won a £5.5m contract with Dong Energy and ScottishPower for a 389MW project in West of Duddon Sands.

According to the contract, the developers will provide crew and equipment for three years with an optional two-year extension.

The Lieutenant P vessel of the company is already working on site and is one of three CWind 20T MPCs scheduled to visit the 108-turbine project.

In addition, the CWind Fulmar, launched at manufacturer CTruk’s Brightling sea shipyard, will join the fleet.

Combining the vessel capabilities and cost-effectiveness with a health and safety track record, in a competitive tender process, CWind was able to demonstrate that they were the right partners, commented, Steve Clarke, head of operations, Dong Energy, West of Duddon Sands.

This contract illustrates that CWind is a trusted partner for the major developers and with a track record of 22 offshore wind farms the company is well positioned to support the customers O&M needs for the future, said, Peter Jorgensen,managing director, CWind.

West of Duddon Sands is sited some 14km from the Cumbria coast and is expected to be fully operational by year-end.
