Solar Steel to Supply 472 MWp Trackers for Major Solar Project in Peru
Solar Steel has signed a deal with Inver Renewable Management to supply 472 MWp of single-axis trackers for the CSF Illa Solar Park in La Joya, Arequipa, Peru. The project will use over 6,800 1P trackers to support around 740,000 high-power solar panels. It is expected to generate 1.2 TWh of electricity annually, covering 2.5 percent of Peru’s total power production. Designed for a 30-year lifespan, the project includes local social and environmental initiatives to promote sustainable development in the region.
Maersk Launches Innovative Wind Installation Vessel in Singapore
Maersk Offshore Wind has launched its first Wind Installation Vessel (WIV) at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore. Designed to enhance offshore wind turbine installations, the 145-meter vessel will remain stationed at wind farm sites while feeder barges and tugs transport components from ports. This setup, compliant with the U.S. Jones Act, aims to reduce installation time by up to 30 percent. The WIV is slated for deployment at the Empire Wind project off New York, developed by Equinor. However, the project faces delay due to a U.S. federal stop-work order, prompting Equinor to consider legal options.
Steelwind Produces Largest Monopile for Offshore Wind
Steelwind Nordenham has produced a monopile measuring 120 meters in length and weighing 2,500 tonnes. This is part of a capacity reservation agreement with RWE, which includes up to 300 monopiles for offshore wind projects expected from 2029. The agreement also includes options for secondary steel structures and logistics services. The monopile is designed to support larger turbines and installations in deeper waters. This development supports offshore wind infrastructure expansion and contributes to planned renewable energy capacity in future energy projects.
Bermuda Seeks Developers for Offshore Wind Farm
Bermuda’s Regulatory Authority has launched a procurement process to develop an offshore wind farm of up to 120 MW, located about 9 km north of St. George’s Island. The site has 15-meter deep waters and average wind speeds of 7.8 m/s. The project will begin with 60 MW and expand to 120 MW, aiming to supply 180 GWh annually—about 30 percent of Bermuda’s electricity needs. Developers are invited to submit Expressions of Interest, with future stages including qualifications and tender. Environmental studies and seabed assessments will support the project’s progress.
