Yingli Green Energy to develop 2MW solar project for Senelec

Yingli Green Energy announced that its subsidiary Yingli Green Energy Spain has signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with Societe Nationaled’ Electricite de Senegal (Senelec), for a 2MW ground-mounted PV plant.

Located in Dakar, Senegal, the project will supply clean energy to the new international conference center Diamniadio in Dakar where the renowed “XV Francophonie Summit” will take place in November 2014.

Under the EPC contract, Yingli Green Energy will co-develop the project and supply its multicrystalline modules spreading an area of over 2.5 hectares. The project is anticipated to generate 3.7 MWh of electricity per year, enough to power more than 1,000 typical homes in the area.

The project gives Yingli Solar an opportunity to expand its business to West African market.

Yingli Green Energy recorded total PV module shipments of 630.8 MW for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014. The company has earned total net revenues of RMB 2,686.8 million (US$432.2 million approx) with overall gross profit US$67.8 million during the period.
