Uzbekistan’s Samarkand and Jizzakh solar power plants have commenced operations, marking a milestone in the nation’s energy transition. The two plants, boasting a combined installed capacity of 511MW, have recently connected their initial units to the grid for power generation.

TrinaTracker, a leading provider of solar tracking solutions, exclusively supplied both plants with 11,248 sets of Vanguard 1P trackers, along with the supporting Trina Smart Cloud digital SCADA platform at tracker level. This deployment underscores the company’s commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure globally.

Developed and built by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Co, commonly known as Masdar, the projects were contracted by International Cooperation Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Dongfang Electric Corporation. The collaboration represents a concerted effort towards fostering international partnerships in sustainable development initiatives.

Uzbekistan, once heavily reliant on thermal power, grappled with frequent outages in its energy supply. However, recognizing its central location and abundant sunlight, the country pivoted towards solar energy, bolstered by government support. This strategic shift has positioned Uzbekistan as a key player in Central Asia’s burgeoning solar PV market.

The contract for these projects was inked in April 2023, marking TrinaTracker’s second major endeavor in Uzbekistan following the Navoi solar power plant in 2021. Upon full integration into the grid, the plants are projected to generate 1.12 billion kWh annually, providing power to approximately 240,000 households. Moreover, this transition is expected to curtail carbon dioxide emissions by over 1 million tons per year, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability efforts.

TrinaTracker’s Vanguard 1P tracker, renowned for its adaptability to diverse terrains and high energy yield, played a pivotal role in the project’s success. Notably, its innovative design and patented spherical bearings have streamlined installation processes, reducing investment costs and enhancing operational efficiency.

The company’s unwavering commitment to customer service and technical excellence has garnered praise from stakeholders. TrinaTracker’s specialists have collaborated closely with clients in Uzbekistan and Abu Dhabi, ensuring tailored solutions to technical challenges. Amidst tight delivery deadlines and logistical complexities, the supply chain team’s dedication has been commended for delivering high-quality products ahead of schedule.
