Sungrow has entered an energy storage supply agreement with Penso Power and BW ESS to provide 1.4 GWh of its PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled energy storage systems for the Hams Hall energy storage project in central England. The project will feature 280 sets of these advanced storage systems, designed to enhance grid resilience and stability in the region.

PowerTitan 2.0 systems are equipped with grid-forming capabilities, including black start functionality, allowing rapid intervention to restore power in case of regional grid disconnection. These energy storage units address grid frequency and voltage fluctuations, providing millisecond-level inertia support, microsecond-level voltage control, and oscillation suppression across various tiers.

This technology is expected to play a crucial role in stabilizing the UK power grid, supporting the country’s transition to more sustainable energy sources. Sungrow’s technology will help facilitate long-term participation in the ancillary service market, enhancing the overall reliability and performance of the UK’s power infrastructure.
